Mahomet-Seymour volleyball heads to championship game of Class 3A Regional

Brianna DiFilippo handed out nine assists on Tuesday (Oct. 24) as the Mahomet-Seymour volleyball team overpowered sixth-seeded Rantoul, 25-11, 25-14, in a semifinal match of the Normal University High Class 3A regional tournament.
DiFilippo also served one ace.
Lily Bosworth swatted six kills. Teammate Addie Eisenmann contributed five digs, three aces and two assists.
Third-seeded M-S (32-4) returns to action on Thursday (Oct. 26) against top-seeded Normal U-High (33-3) in the regional championship match at 6 p.m.
The Bulldogs have won 12 consecutive matches and 18 of their last 19.
M-S and U-High did not play one another in the regular season.
M-S is chasing its first regional title in volleyball since 2019 and the 11th in school history in the sport.
U-High has won volleyball regionals each of the last five years the IHSA has conducted a postseason series. There was no tournament in 2020 due to COVID-19.
