Mahomet-Seymour Volleyball Claims Centennial Tournament Championship, Avenges Loss to Champaign Central

Mahomet-Seymour’s volleyball team beat all four opponents it faced – including one it had lost to three days earlier – and won the championship of the Centennial Tournament on Saturday (Sept. 7)
M-S started tourney play by defeating Rochester, 25-17, 18-25, 15-6 and then won a rematch with Champaign Central, 25-19, 23-25, 15-11, – whom they lost to in three sets on Wednesday – before copping a 25-23 25-21 win over Morton.
In the championship match, the Bulldogs whipped St. Thomas More, 25-18, 25-20.
Ava Yeakel collected seven digs, six kills and five service aces on Thursday (Sept. 5) as Mahomet-Seymour’s first volleyball match away from home ended with a 25-5, 25-17 victory at Danville.
Ellie Dallas handed out 17 assists.
M-S won the junior varsity match, 25-11, 25-16 and captured the freshmen match, too, 25-16, 25-16.
The Bulldogs (6-1) return to action on Tuesday (Sept. 10) at home against Mattoon in the Apollo Conference opener.
