Mahomet-Seymour track and field wins meet at Seneca

Mahomet-Seymour won 11 events on Monday (April 11) and captured team honors in a five-school boys’ track and field meet at Seneca.
M-S amassed 202 points. Runner-up Pontiac scored 148 points.
Joseph Scheele was the lone Bulldog to win two individual events. He was dominant in the 800 meters (2 minutes, 9.90 seconds) and the 3,200 meters (10:23.84).
The Bulldogs secured five of the top seven places in the individual 3,200-meter race.
Trailing Scheele were Karsten Waisath (third in 10:32.80), Hayden Grotelueschen (fourth in 10:34.63), Benjamin Wallace (fifth in 10:39.00) and Lukas Nykaza (seventh in 11:18.59).
The pole vault was the other event where M-S had five placers.
Ty Clark cleared 12 feet to outdistance the field. Other team leaders were Thomas Carpenter (third at 10-9), Travis Hoffman (fourth at 9-5), Seth Christiansen (fifth at 8-9) and Ryken Kirby (sixth at 8-5).
Other field event winners for the Bulldogs were Cole Marshall (triple jump, 40 feet, 8 inches) and Robert Byron (discus, 138 feet, 1 inch).
Erik Christianson was triumphant in the 100 meters (12.24 seconds). Tyler Lewis prevailed in the 400 meters (54.15 seconds) and Kyle Nofziger outran all 1,600 competitors (4:34.14).
M-S also secured wins in three relays.
The 400-meter foursome of Marshall, DeAngelo Hughey, Nick Golden and Quenton Rogers finished their lap in 44.50 seconds.
The 800 unit consisted of Jayvon Irwin, Erik Christianson, Golden and Rogers. Their cumulative time was 1:37.33.
Sharing the baton in the 1,600-meter relay were Hughey, Lewis, Jonah Singer and Blake Dillman. They stopped the clock in 3:42.48.
In both hurdles races, M-S produced four of the top eight placers.
In the 110-meter high hurdles, Ian Dobucki was fourth (18.61 seconds), Dayten Eisenmann was fifth (18.88), Nolan Nierenhausen was sixth (19.71) and Jaxon Themanson was eighth (21.77).
In the 300 hurdles, Nierenhausen was third (45.74), Eisenmann was fifth (48.00), Gavin Hammerschmidt was sixth (52.55) and Themanson was eighth (52.76).
Marshall ran third in the 200 meters (24.73) and Luke Johnson was seventh (26.84).
Following Lewis in the 400 meters were teammates Kaden Jackson (third in 55.64) and Mitch McAnally (seventh in 59.56).
Dillman was the runner-up to Scheele in the 800 meters (2:1.67) while McAnally was seventh (2:21.44).
In the 1,600, trailing Nofziger were Ethan Ramirez (third in 5:00.18), Grant Smysor (fourth in 5:01.78) and Taylor Fan (fifth in 5:02.58).
In the weight events, Byron finished fourth in the shot put (40 feet, 2 inches) and Caleb Boykin was among the leaders in both the shot (eighth at 36 feet) and the discus (fifth at 102 feet, 8 inches).
Gabe Labbe trailed Marshall in the triple jump (fourth at 39 feet, 4 inches), but ended ahead of Marshall in the long jump (third at 19 feet, 4 inches).
Marshall was fourth at 18 feet, 7 inches and Ellis Tira was sixth (17 feet, 9 inches).
