Mahomet-Seymour tennis remains unbeaten

Playing its third home match of the season on Thursday (Aug. 31) at the Middletown Courts, the unbeaten Mahomet-Seymour girls’ tennis team overpowered Danville Schlarman Academy, 8-1.

All eight of the Bulldogs’ wins were in straight sets.

In singles the victories belonged to Adella Bird (6-1, 6-0 at No. 2), Holland Martin (6-2, 6-0 at No. 3), Emily Young (6-0,6-0 at No. 4), Claire Johnson (6-0, 6-0 at No. 5) and Ashley Shoaf (6-1, 6-0 at No. 6).

Martin and Young are both 3-0 for the season with each win in two sets.

In doubles, the No. 1 duo of Savannah Amatyleon and Young prevailed 6-3, 6-4. At No. 2 doubles, Martin and Bird were triumphant 6-0, 6-1. The No. 3 team of Delaney Shore and Lily Roberts earned a 6-2, 6-1 victory.

M-S (3-0) returns to action on Tuesday (Sept. 5) against Central at Champaign’s Lindsay Courts.
