Mahomet-Seymour Tennis picks up win over GCMS

Mahomet-Seymour won four of six singles matches on Tuesday (Aug. 23) and overpowered Gibson City-Melvin-Sibley, 6-3, in a dual meet at Illini Grove Tennis Courts, in Urbana.
At No. 1 singles, Savannah Amatyleon overcame a one-set deficit to get past Katie Steidinger, 5-7, 7-5, 11-9.
The Bulldogs’ other singles winners prevailed in straight sets: Emily Young (6-2, 6-0 at No. 2), Holland Martin (6-4, 6-1 at No. 3) and Claire Johnson (6-0, 6-4 at No. 5).
In doubles, the Bulldogs received wins from Amatyleon and Lily Roberts (8-0 at No. 2) and from Johnson and Delaney Shore (6-2, 6-4 at No. 3).
M-S (1-1) returns to action on Monday (Aug. 29) at Centennial.
