Mahomet-Seymour tennis finishes sixth at Apollo Conference match

Four of Mahomet-Seymour’s entries in the Apollo Conference boys’ tennis tournament at Mattoon, which ended on Saturday (May 14) exceeded their seeds.
Connor Hirsbrunner, at No.1 singles, placed fifth. Andre Grace, at No. 3 singles, also placed fifth. They were each seeded sixth.
In doubles, the No. 1 duo of Hirsbrunner and Hayden Mitchell ended fifth. The No. 3 duo of John Wanninger and Gaspar Covarrubias-Zuniga took fifth. Each one was seeded sixth.
As a team, M-S placed sixth with 13 points, one point behind fifth-place Lincoln.
Meet champion Mount Zion had 59 points.
The Bulldogs’ other entries – all of whom finished in sixth place – were Jacob Atteberry and Braden Stacey at No. 2 doubles as well as singles’ entries Landon Nurmi (No. 2), Quade Bristle (No. 4), Jack Louis (No. 5) and Lucas Raquel (No. 6).
M-S returns to action on Friday (May 20) in the 10-team Class 1A Danville Sectional.
