Mahomet-Seymour Tennis Dominates Mattoon 8-1, Stays Undefeated with Strong Doubles and Singles Performances

Mahomet-Seymour swept the three doubles matches in straight sets on Thursday (Sept. 19) and topped Mattoon, 8-1, in a dual meet at the Middletown Courts.

Winning at No. 1 doubles were Adella Bird and Holland Martin, 6-3, 6-4. They have a 5-1 season record.

At No. 2 doubles, Haley Reed and Elana Religioso posted a 6-1, 6-0 win to improve their record to 6-1.

Ashley Shoaf and Lindsay Gowler stayed unbeaten at No. 3 doubles (now 5-0) with a 6-1, 6-0 triumph.

Four of the Bulldogs’ singles participants are still undefeated for the season.

Religioso is 8-0 at No. 3 after a 6-0, 6-4 win. Reed is 5-0 at No. 4 following a 6-3, 7-5 victory. Eliza Agate is 7-0 at No. 5 after a 6-3, 6-0 decision. Shoaf is 6-0 at No, 6 following a 6-0, 6-1 triumph.

At No. 1, Bird took care of her opponent, 6-1, 6-2. At No. 2, Martin dropped a hard-fought 2-6, 6-3, 10-7 decision.

M-S (10-0) returns to action on Tuesday (Sept. 24) at Watseka.
