Mahomet-Seymour tennis defeats Watseka

Mahomet-Seymour won four of six singles matches on Tuesday (Sept. 20) and went on to earn a 6-3 triumph in a girls’ tennis match at Watseka.
The Bulldogs’ singles winners were junior Savannah Amatyleon (No. 1), sophomore Holland Martin (No. 4), junior Claire Johnson (No. 5) and freshman Adella Bird (No. 6).
Amatyleon topped Emma Simons, 8-5. Martin defeated Moriah Pueschell, 8-3. Johnson beat Sarah Parsons, 8-2. Bird edged Tiffany Zhao, 8-7 (5).
In doubles, the Bulldog winners were Amatyleon and junior Emily Young, who were triumphant over Simons and Baler Rigsby, 8-5, at No. 1; and junior Delaney Shore and sophomore Ashley Shoaf, who scored an 8-5 win over Annika Greene and Marisa Clark.
Martin and Johnson each have 4-4 records in singles. Bird is 3-2.
M-S (4-4) returns to action on Thursday (Sept. 22) at Maroa-Forsyth.
