Mahomet-Seymour Swimming picks up win

Mahomet-Seymour’s boys’ swimming team won a triangular meet on Thursday (Feb. 18) to improve their season record to 3-1.
M-S won five individual events and two relays en route to the team triumph.
M-S amassed 127 points, Springfield Sacred Heart-Griffin had 116 points and Lincoln totaled 36.
Aron Varga was a double winner for the Bulldogs, capturing top honors in the 200-yard freestyle and the 100-yard backstroke.
Teammates who won events were Owen Kearns (100-yard butterfly), Max Katz (100-yard freestyle) and Carter Logsdon (50-yard freestyle).
The M-S 200-yard freestyle relay and the 400-yard freestyle relay were also victorious.
M-S had the runner-up in five individual events.
Kearns was second in the 200-yard freestyle, Katz was second in the 100-yard backstroke, Logsdon was second in the 100-yard butterfly, Mitch McAnally was second in the 50-yard freestyle and Mark Guttierez was second in the 100-yard breaststroke.
Zach Orr captured thirds in two events: 200-yard individual medley and 100-yard breaststroke.
M-S will return to action on Tuesday (Feb. 23) at Lincoln College in a meet which will also include Springfield High and Lincoln.
