Mahomet-Seymour Swimming improves to 8-2

For the third consecutive meet and the fourth time in six meets this season, Mahomet-Seymour’s boys’ swimming team was the meet winner.
The team’s latest triumph was on Monday (March 8) at Danville. M-S won the dual meet 93-34.
The Bulldogs swept the three relay races and also had the winner in seven of the eight individual events.
The 200-yard medley relay foursome featured Max Katz, Aron Varga, Owen Kearns and Carter Logsdon. They were timed in 1 minute, 57.79 seconds.
Logsdon was part of the victorious 200-yard freestyle relay, which also included Zach Orr, Mark Gutierrez and Mitch McAnally. Their time was 1:42.44.
In the 400-yard freestyle relay, the winning M-S group consisted of Aaron Smith, Ben Amjad, Sean Summers and Kam Bartels. Their winning time was 4:49.94.
Katz and Varga were each triumphant in two individual events.
Katz dominated in the 100-yard freestyle (55.61) and the 100-yard backstroke (1:03.90).
Varga led the way in the 100-yard butterfly (1:04.23) and the 200-yard individual medley (2:18.12).
Three other Bulldogs won individual events.
Kearns was first in the 500-yard freestyle (6:10.00), McAnally took top honors in the 50-yard freestyle (25.11) and Gutierrez set the pace in the 100-yard breaststroke (1:19.38).
Gutierrez edged teammate Orr, who was clocked in 1:19.61 in the breaststroke.
Other M-S athletes securing second-place finishes were Kearns (200-yard freestyle, 2:19.25), Gutierrez (200-yard individual medley, 2:55.85), Smith (500-yard freestyle, 6:44.57) and Logsdon (100-yard butterfly, 1:11.36).
Orr placed third in the 50-yard freestyle (26.78). McAnally was fourth in the 100-yard freestyle (1:01.30) and Smith ended fourth in the 100-yard backstroke (1:24.20).
M-S is 8-2 overall.
