Mahomet-Seymour splits first two games of State Farm Classic

Senior Dayten Eisenmann matched his season’s high with 17 points on Wednesday (Dec. 28) as the 11th-seeded Mahomet-Seymour boys’ basketball team topped 14th-seeded Machesney Park Harlem, 64-58, in a second-round game of the large-school division at the State Farm Classic at Normal West High School.
Eisenmann was backed by Wyatt Bohm (14 points), Trey Peters (12 points) and Finn Randolph (seven points).
Bohm just missed a double-double, hauling down a team-high nine rebounds to go with five assists.
Peters handled six boards and Eisenmann dished out three assists. Randolph distributed a season-high seven assists.
M-S jumped into a 17-10 lead after one quarter and held a 31-26 edge at halftime.
On Tuesday (Dec. 27), Mahomet-Seymour fell behind by double digits after one quarter in its first-round game and dropped a 63-42 decision to sixth-seeded Romeoville.
The Bulldogs trailed, 22-8, after one period in the game played at Bloomington High School.
Eisenmann and Randolph each scored nine points to lead M-S. Jake Waldinger registered seven points.
Bohm collected team-high totals of six assists and four rebounds.
The Bulldogs (5-6) return to action at 9:30 a.m. on Thursday (Dec. 29) against 15th-seeded Oswego at Normal West High School. Depending on whether they win or lose, the Bulldogs will return to the court Thursday afternoon at either 3:30 p.m. or 5:30 p.m.
