Mahomet-Seymour Speech team receives early-season honors
With many sports and activities either canceled or postponed this fall, the Mahomet-Seymour High School Speech Team is excited to begin their competitive season in a “virtual” format this year.
Students have been practicing since late September and participated in two October scrimmages hosted by University High School in Bloomington to help students become familiar with new technology that allows speech tournaments to take place remotely.
On Oct. 31, 17 MSHS students competed against eight other schools in the Look-Heisel Early Bird Tournament hosted by Limestone High School.
Twelve students received honors in their individual events: Averhy Sanborn, Brogan Hennesy, Cassie Schwarzentraub, Joshua Park, Kylie Jackson, Kylie Fuoss, Madison Ade, Mallory Fonte, Matthew He, Miranda Morrissette, Savannah Smith, and Tadeo Ruiz.
This week the team will compete in the 2020 Olympia Classic, and will continue to participate in virtual tournaments through mid-February.
