Mahomet-Seymour Speech team places third in Eureka
The Mahomet-Seymour Speech Team finished in third place out of 15 schools at the Eureka High School speech tournament on Jan. 15.
Most speech contests this season have been in-person, with students performing while wearing masks.
Several MSHS students advanced to the final round of competition and were recognized in their events: Alec Berg (5th place Varsity Original Comedy), Anna Lambros (2nd place JV Poetry Reading), Averhy Sanborn (2nd place Varsity Prose Reading, 6th place Varsity Radio Speaking), Eden Sanborn and Olivia Pfeiffer (2nd place Varsity Dramatic Duet Acting), Madison Ade (4th place Varsity Oratorical Declamation), Noora Kassem (1st place JV Dramatic Interpretation), Savannah Smith (1st place Varsity Impromptu, 2nd place Varsity Radio Speaking), and Veronica Hoffman (1st place Varsity Extemporaneous Speaking, 5th place Varsity Radio Speaking).
Next week Mahomet-Seymour will host a hybrid-format speech tournament, with eight area schools scheduled to participate.
