The Mahomet-Seymour High School Speech Team kicked off their 2019-2020 season with a third-place trophy from the Small Schools Division at the U-High Invitational held at the ISU Campus in Bloomington on Saturday.
Twenty-five schools from across Illinois were part of the competition.
Savannah Smith (1st Place JV Impromptu Speaking), Penny Sheridan (4th place JV Impromptu Speaking), Miranda Morrissette (5th place JV Impromptu Speaking), Mallory Fonte (2nd place JV Original Comedy) received honors in their individual events.
The season, which began with practice in early October, will run through mid-February with competitions at weekend tournaments.
