Mahomet-Seymour Speech team places second at Regional
The Mahomet-Seymour Speech Team began the IHSA state series with a second-place finish at the Regional competition in Chatham on February 4th. This is the highest place the team has achieved at Regionals since the team’s inception.
All of the students competing advanced to the Sectional round of competition, which will be held at Belleville West HS on February 11. Students receiving individual recognition included:
- Isabelle Fonte – Regional Champion in Humorous Interpretation
- Eden Sanborn – Regional Champion in Oratorical Declamation
- Madison Young – 2nd place Original Oratory
- Noora Kassem – 2nd place Prose Reading
- Samantha Johnson – 2nd place Radio
- Madison Ade – 2nd place Special Occasion Speaking
- Noora Kassem & Emmaline Culp – 2nd place Dramatic Duet
- Kiersten Williamson – 3rd place Extemporaneous
- Eden Sanborn – 3rd place Dramatic Interpretation
- Ali McGregor & Ollie Blackman – 4th place Humorous Duet
- Alec Berg – 4th place Original Comedy
- KJ Jackson – 4th place Impromptu
- Alexus Brown – 4th place Poetry
- Madison Ade – 4th place Informative
Students are also preparing for a Speech Showcase at the MSHS Auditorium on Monday, February 13 beginning at 5:30pm. The public is invited to attend.
