Mahomet-Seymour Speech team places fourth at Winter Speech Tournament
The Mahomet-Seymour Speech Team finished in fourth place out of 18 schools at the Mahomet-Seymour Winter Speech Tournament on January 16.
Seventeen Bulldog participants showcased their talents in the 13-event speech tournament. Submitted video recordings were viewed and ranked by speech judges from across the state.
The highest-ranking performances advanced to the final round of competition, which included both pre-recorded and live (virtual) performances.
Several MSHS students were recognized in their individual events: Alec Berg (3rd place JV Original Comedy), Anna Lambros (6th place JV Prose Reading), Averhy Sanborn (4th place Varsity Prose Reading, 6th place Varsity Radio Speaking), Brogan Hennesy (2nd place JV Original Comedy), Isabelle Fonte (4th place JV Prose Reading), Kylie Jackson (4th place JV Original Comedy), Madison Ade (1st place JV Informative Speaking, 1st place JV Impromptu Speaking, 6th place JV Dramatic Interpretation), Matthew He (6th place Varsity Humorous Interpretation), Savannah Smith (3rd place Varsity Extemporaneous Speaking, 4th place Varsity Impromptu Speaking), Veronica Hoffman (2nd place Varsity Extemporaneous Speaking).
This was Mahomet-Seymour’s first time hosting a virtual speech competition.
The Bulldogs will compete again next weekend at a virtual tournament hosted by Reavis High School in Burbank IL. They are also preparing for the IHSA state series in February.
