Madi White reached base with a single, a walk and was hit by a pitch. She scored two runs.
Other teammates with hits and a run scored were Rio Casillas, Kalista Granadino, Kendyl Petro and Kelsie Fuoss.
Winning pitcher McPherson struck out nine and was supported by a defense that didn’t commit any errors.
M-S lost twice to Tolono Unity, 12-0 on Tuesday (Sept. 15) in Mahomet and 17-12 on Tuesday (Sept. 1) in Tolono.
The Bulldogs were limited to two hits in the game at Mahomet: a single by Petro and a triple by Yeakel.
In the game at Tolono, M-S led 4-1 after two innings, but fell behind and couldn’t regain the lead. White, Yeakel, Casillas and Kara Carney had the Bulldogs’ hits.
Third-seeded M-S will start postseason play on Thursday (Sept. 24) in an IESA Class 3A regional semifinal game at second-seeded Mount Zion.
