Mahomet-Seymour Softball Team Ends Season with Regional Semifinal Loss to Champaign Central

Mahomet-Seymour’s softball team dropped a 12-2 decision at home on Wednesday (May 22) to Champaign Central in a Class 3A IHSA regional semifinal game.
Kalista Granadino and Madisyn White scored the M-S runs. Madelyn Logsdon and Rio Casillas drove in runs for the Bulldogs.
White’s double was the Bulldogs’ lone extra-base hit. Other hits were by Granadino, Logsdon, Casillas, Ava Henderson, Brooke Hartman and Madison Taylor.
Logsdon’s single extended her hitting streak to a team-best 18 games.
Henderson pitched a complete game and took the loss. She walked four and struck out two in 5 2/3 innings.
M-S ends the season with an 8-23 record.
The team’s seniors are Madeleine Cortez, White, Taylor and Henderson.
The Bulldogs’ top batting leaders for the season were Logsdon (.390), Cortez (.375), Casillas (.333), Henderson (.330), Granadino (.313) and Brooklyn Dyer (.310).
Hartman (22), Cortez (20), Henderson (19) and Dyer (18) were the team’s RBI leaders.
Cortez (30), Granadino (23) and Hartman (23) were the leaders in runs scored.
Cortez (12) and Granadino (10) were the team leaders in stolen bases.
Cortez had the most extra-base hits (13), followed by Logsdon (12) and Henderson (10).
Henderson and Logsdon had the most games with two, or more, hits (nine).
Henderson led the Bulldogs in pitching appearances (24), innings pitched (124 1/3), strikeouts (90) and wins (six).
