Mahomet-Seymour softball returns to action with win over Heyworth

Karley Yergler pitched her second five-inning no-hitter of the spring on Monday at home, silencing Heyworth in an 11-0 Mahomet-Seymour softball victory.
Yergler (15-1) struck out 14 batters and walked one as M-S returned to action following an 11-day layoff.
She also contributed at the plate, slugging a home run and driving in four runs.
Yergler produced two hits as did teammates Jayden Hannah and Chloe Truax.
Kenadi Granadino and Sydney Ward each had two RBI. Hannah, Truax and Madi White all scored two runs.
On Tuesday (May 10) at Bloomington, Abbey Akers and Yergler slugged back-to-back home runs in the eighth inning to break up a pitcher’s duel and send the Bulldogs to a 3-0 triumph.
Yergler struck out 17 batters while firing her third consecutive shutout. She allowed seven hits and walked two.
Yergler’s shutout was her 12th of the spring.
Three of the Bulldogs’ five hits went for extra bases. Granadino belted a double.
M-S (18-2) puts its seven-game winning streak on the line on Thursday (May 12) at Gibson City-Melvin-Sibley.
