Mahomet-Seymour softball drops first game at home
By Fred Kroner
Mahomet-Seymour pushed across three runs in the bottom of the fifth inning, but that was the Bulldogs’ only offense on Tuesday (March 28) in their home-opening 18-3 non-conference softball loss to Stanford Olympia.
Kenadi Granadino, Madisyn White and Rio Casillas tallied runs for the Bulldogs. Madelyn Logsdon, Madeleine Cortez and Sydney Ward drove in runs.
Granadino and Logsdon accounted for the two M-S hits.
Freshman Katherine Severns made her varsity pitching debut in the fifth inning, in relief of Ava Henderson. Severns needed one pitch to retire the only batter she faced.
M-S (0-2) returns to action on Thursday (March 30) at home against Bloomington before opening Apollo Conference play on Saturday (April 1) with a doubleheader at home against Lincoln.
