Mahomet-Seymour Soccer shuts out Mattoon

Nolan Wheeler celebrated his birthday on Tuesday (Oct. 4) by scoring three goals and handing out two assists as the Mahomet-Seymour boys’ soccer team romped to an 8-0 win at Mattoon.
Isaac Warren also had a hat trick and amassed four assists.
M-S led, 5-0, at halftime.
The shutout was the 11th this season for goalkeeper Zach Beyer.
“The offense was able to pass in tight areas all night and consistently made quick, smart decisions with the ball,” M-S coach Jeremy Davis said. “Kai Jones and Nick Tjahjadi also had assists on the night and were critical in connecting the ball up the field and in the final third with the strikers.”
Brian Woodbury netted two goals off of crosses.
Three Bulldogs made their varsity debuts in the Apollo Conference match: Caden Alt, Kaden Jackson and Ethan Ramirez.
M-S (13-4-2) returns to action on Thursday (Oct. 6) at Mount Zion. The Bulldogs are 8-0-1 in Apollo Conference action.
The M-S junior varsity blanked Mattoon, 4-0, behind a hat trick from Travis Hoffman.
