Seniors played the starring role on Thursday (April 28) for the unbeaten Mahomet-Seymour girls’ soccer team.
As the Bulldogs moved a step closer to the Apollo Conference championship, seniors accounted for every assist and five of the goals in a 9-0 thrashing of Lincoln at Middletown Field.
Senior Cayla Koerner connected on four of the M-S goals.
Senior Anna Hawley hit a goal and added an assist.
Other seniors who contributed to the scoring were Bailey Roberts (three assists), Brea Benson (two assists), Delaney King (two assists) and Kamryn Frost (one assist).
M-S, which led 6-0 at halftime, also received goals from Sidney Young (two), Emma Dallas (one) and Taylor Dietz (one).
“Seniors Anna Hawley and Bailey Roberts both had great nights for the Bulldogs,” M-S coach Jeremy Davis said. “Anna was able to get an assist and goal on her birthday while Bailey Roberts had the offense flow through her for much of the game, getting three assists on the night.”
The Bulldogs are 14-0 overall and 8-0 against Apollo Conference foes. Five straight wins have been by shutout.
M-S returns to action on Monday (May 2) at state-ranked Dunlap.
