Mahomet-Seymour Scores Second at Last Chance Meet with McMurry Leading in 3,200 Meters and Relay Wins

Henry McMurry won an individual event for Mahomet-Seymour on Saturday (May 10) in the Last Chance boys’ track and field meet at El Paso.
M-S also had two first-place relays in a 17-team meet. The Bulldogs scored 96 ½ points and finished second to Pontiac (102 points).
McMurry led a 1-2-3 Bulldog finish in the 3,200 meters, which had 29 contestants.
He was timed in 10:13.52. Just on his heels was teammate Kaleb Kasper (10:14.36) with Zach Wilcoski taking third (10:43.41). Two other M-S distance runners secured top-10 finishes in the race. Lukas Nykaza was fifth (10:57.27) and teammate Grant Smysor was seventh (11:21.89).
The most successful M-S relays showcased the sprinters.
The 400-meter foursome of Travis Hoffman, Jayvon Irwin, Ryken Kirby and Alex O’Brian took first. In an event with 18 entries, they clocked a 43.75-second mark and won by .67.
The 800-meter relay unit featured Irwin, O’Brian, Dylan Smith and Kirby. They outstepped the closest pursuer by .06, turning in a winning time of 1:33.52.
Hoffman took second place in the 300-meter hurdles (personal-best 40.71 seconds).
Trevor Reese captured top-10 finishes in three individual events.
He was the runner-up in the discus (personal-best 141 feet, 1 inch) as well as in the 45-meter dash (6.39 seconds). In the shot put, he finished sixth (43 feet, 6 inches).
M-S had fourth-place performances from pole vaulter Jackson Davis (10 feet, 5 inches) and its 1,600-meter relay grouping of Kaden Jackson, Cody Moen, O’Brian and Hoffman.
Their collective time was 3:39.01.
The Bulldogs’ other top-10 performers were: Jackson (fifth in the 800 meters in 2:12.23), Lukas Carey (sixth in the 1,600 meters in a personal-best 4:53.33), Carson Drinkwalter (sixth in the pole vault at 9 feet, 5 inches), Noah Frank (seventh in the discus at a personal-best 118 feet, 9 inches), Nykaza (eighth in the 1,600 meters in a personal-best 4:57.06), Arthur Hofbauer (10th in the pole vault at a personal-best 07 feet, 10 inches) and Ben Schultz (10th in the 1,600 meters in a personal-best 5:00.34).
M-S returns to action on Wednesday (May 15) in the 16-school Pontiac Class 2A Sectional.
