Mahomet-Seymour School District recognized by Niche.com

The Mahomet-Seymour School District was recognized as the 26th-best school district in Illinois by Niche.com.

Niche.com ranks schools and school districts based on information provided by the U.S. Department of Education in academics, health and safety, parent and student surveys, student culture, facilities and extracurricular activities, among others.
The district received an “A+” overall, ranking high in academics, teachers, clubs and activities, college readiness, administration, sports, health and safety while factors such as diversity, food, resources, and facilities received lower marks.
Mahomet-Seymour serves 3,081 students overall. Fifty-percent of the student population are proficient at reading and 57-percent are proficient in math.
Of the 643 districts ranked, Mahomet-Seymour was ranked the ninth-safest. Of the 638 districts ranked for best teachers in Illinois, Mahomet-Seymour came in at 13th.
Mahomet-Seymour High School came in at 54th of the 689 high schools ranked, receiving an “A+” grade. Niche.com reports according to state standards, 65-percent of MSHS students are proficient in math and 63-percent are proficient in reading with an average graduation rate of 92-percent.
Mahomet-Seymour Junior High School received an “A” grade but was ranked the 81st junior high of the 1,329 ranked in Illinois. Of the 713 students at MSJHS, 67-percent are proficient in reading and 50-percent are proficient in math.
Lincoln Trail Elementary was ranked 354th of the 2,233 elementary schools ranked and received an “A-” grade. With 659 students, Niche.com reports that 43-percent of the students are proficient in reading and 45-percent of students are proficient in math.
Middletown Prairie Elementary and Sangamon Elementary, which closed in 2017, both received a B+ grade from Niche.com.
