Mahomet-Seymour School District will hold a Special Board meeting on November 7, 2016 at 6:00 pm for approval of the superintendent candidate to begin in their role on July1, 2017.Dr. Lindsey Hall will be presented on Monday as that candidate.
Dr. Lindsey Hall will be presented on Monday as that candidate. Dr. Hall is currently the superintendent of schools at Morton District 709 in Morton, Illinois. Lindsey began her career in education as a teacher in the Danville School District in 1989. In 1994, she was hired as the assistant principal/athletic director at Mahomet-Seymour Junior High School, and in 1997 she was named principal of that building for eight years.
Desiring a change to return to her high school roots, Dr. Hall was hired as principal of DeKalb High School in DeKalb, IL in 2005, earned her doctorate from the University of Illinois in 2006, and became assistant superintendent of human resources in the DeKalb Schools in 2009. She held this position until 2012, when she was hired in her current role.
During her five-year tenure, the Morton district has invested heavily in facilities upgrades, implemented a personal device (1:1 iPad) initiative for PreK-12th grade students, passed a $10.5 million bond issue in March of 2016, and focused curriculum articulation and alignment throughout the district, including refining the RtI/MTSS process, adding an ELL coordinator, and expanding AP/dual credit offerings at Morton High School.
MS Board President, Max McComb shared that “Dr. Hall stood out in a field of very qualified candidates. She has a track record of success and the skill set necessary to lead Mahomet- Seymour schools forward. We are very excited that she is returning to our District!”
Board member Lance Raver, who was part of a site visit to Morton, states “Dr. Hall brings a breadth of experience and passion for education that will serve the Mahomet-Seymour district well. Her previous experience shows that she will be able to continue the growth that our district has become accustomed to.”
Tom Leahy, Director of the Illinois Association of School Boards (IASB) Executive Searches Department commented on the process “The Board of Education of Mahomet-Seymour has taken this task very seriously throughout the entire process. The Board has been involved with five different meeting nights with over 35 hours of member work for this hire. This included meetings with the search firm personnel, first and second round interviews, reference calls, and a site visit. “This is the Board’s highest priority of work since we manage one employee as a group—the superintendent”, shared McComb.
