Mahomet-Seymour receives commendable/exemplary ranks on Illinois Report Card
Three of Mahomet-Seymour’s schools, Mahomet-Seymour Junior High, Lincoln Trail Elementary, and Middletown Prairie Elementary, received “commendable” status on the Illinois Report Card, while Mahomet-Seymour High School moved from “commendable” to “exemplary,” the highest ISBE rank.
All the data used in the report was taken in the fall of 2022.
Key components of the 2023 designation include ELA and Math Proficiency, Science Proficiency, Student Growth, Chronic Absenteeism, English Learner Progress to Proficiency, Graduation Rate, and School Improvement Status. The report also continues to break down each district’s finances, expenditures per student, teacher retention, attendance, enrollment, and salaries.
The Illinois Report Card shows that the district spends $9186 ($9656, 2021) per student at Middletown Prairie, $9046 ($9,435, 2021) per student at Lincoln Trail, $10,518 ($9,969, 2021) per student at Mahomet-Seymour Junior High, and $12, 144 ($11.39, 2021) per student at Mahomet-Seymour High School.
Total District expenditures were $40,089,479 ($41,455,273, 2021), and the district is 64-percent adequately funded with $25,670,174 ($24,173,379, 2021) of Evidence-Based Funding Resources, according to the Evidence-based funding model.
Chronic Absenteeism fell from 26.8-percent to 21-percent, below the state average of 28.3-percent. In 2022, administrators addressed absenteeism in their presentations to the Mahomet-Seymour School Board.
The district’s dropout rate increased to 4-percent , which is above the state average at 2.9-percent.
Teacher retention held steady at 90-percent.
Academic data is not provided for Middletown Prairie Elementary, but it is for Lincoln Trail, MSJHS and MSHS.
The Illinois Report Card reports that 34-percent of students at Lincoln Trail are proficient in English, 36-percent in Math and 73-percent in science. At Mahomet-Seymour Junior High School, 53-percent of students are proficient in English, 51-percent in math and 78-percent in science. Eighth-grade students passing Algebra I is below the state average. MSJHS has 27-percent passing while the state average is 31-percent.
At Mahomet-Seymour High School 53-percent of students are proficient in English, 58-percent in math and 66-percent in science. Ninety-two percent of 9th grade students are on track for graduation, and 25-percent of graduates need remediation in community college.
