Mahomet-Seymour postpones 2020 prom
Mahomet-Seymour High School is postponing their 2020 prom.
“We are not canceling prom,” Principal Chad Benedict said in a video to students Wednesday.
Benedict the decision was made to protect the health of students, staff and families. He also noted the preparation that goes into prom was up against deadlines that forced the decision.
“I want to stress that our hope is that we can have prom in the future once things have returned to normal,” he said. “We’ve been talking about what that could potentially look like with some different scenarios.”
Benedict said that he knows this is disappointing for students, he is disappointed, too, but he hopes that prom will be an option in the future.
Prom was scheduled to be on May 2, 2020.
