Mahomet-Seymour places fourth at Heyworth Speech Tournament
The Mahomet-Seymour High School Speech Team finished in fourth place out of 18 schools participating in the Heyworth High School speech tournament on Jan. 30.
All participating MSHS students advanced to the final round of competition and were recognized in their events.
Students winning awards at Saturday’s contest included: Aera Boateng (1st place Varsity Oratorical Declamation), Eden Sanborn and Olivia Pfeiffer (2nd place Varsity Dramatic Duet Acting), Kiana Bailey and Lloyd Hinton (5th place Varsity Dramatic Duet Acting), Noora Kassem (4th place Varsity Dramatic Interpretation), Veronica Hoffman (3rd place Varsity Extemporaneous Speaking), Savannah Smith (2nd place Varsity Impromptu and 5th place Varsity Radio Speaking), Kaden Jackson (7th place Varsity Impromptu), Lloyd Hinton (6th place JV Informative Speaking), Alec Berg (5th place Varsity Original Comedy), Mallory Fonte (3rd place Original Oratory), and Averhy Sanborn (6th place Varsity Radio Speaking).
The team will begin the IHSA State Series next weekend with Regional competition in Normal, IL.
