Mahomet-Seymour kicks off baseball season with win over Unity

Five of the 12 hits produced by Mahomet-Seymour in its baseball opener on Tuesday (March 15) went for extra bases as the Bulldogs posted a 16-3 win at Tolono Unity.
Blake Wolters drilled a double and a home run and teammate Brayden Smith socked two doubles to spearhead the M-S offensive assault.
Wolters, Smith, Carter Selk and Jaedon Lager all drove in two runs.
Wolters and Smith each finished with three hits. Registering two hits apiece for the Bulldogs were Alex McHale and Lager.
Braden Houchin and Jacob Waldinger scored three runs for M-S. Crossing home plate twice were Wolters, McHale, Chase Wagers and Carter Johnson.
Wolters and Zach Courson shared the pitching duties.
Wolters pitched four innings of one-hit ball. He walked two, struck out eight and collected the victory.
Courson fanned three batters and walked no one in his two-inning stint.
M-S (1-0) returns to action on Thursday (March 17) at home against Paxton-Buckley-Loda.
