Mahomet-Seymour Junior High Girls’ Basketball ends regular season on high note

Mahomet-Seymour’s seventh-grade girls’ basketball team concluded the regular season at home on Monday by overpowering Champaign St. Matthew 42-13.
It was the 13th consecutive victory for the seventh-graders, who were led by Selah Campion with nine points. Teammates Kylie Waldinger and Ellie Dallas each scored six points.
The seventh-graders (18-2) will play their first-round Class 4A regional game at home on Saturday at noon against either Champaign Edison or Rantoul. M-S is the No. 1 seed in the six-school event.
The M-S eighth-graders (13-7) were victorious on Eighth-Grade Night, topping St. Matthew 36-25 on Monday.
Claire Seal matched her season’s high with 20 points. Sidney Young scored eight points.
The eighth-graders have won four of their last six games.
Both M-S squads finish the regular season tonight at St. Joseph.
The eighth-grade regional, at Urbana, will start in early December.
