Mahomet-Seymour holds Effingham scoreless
By Fred Kroner
Four days after completing his basketball season, senior Eli Warren made a major contribution to the Mahomet-Seymour boys’ soccer team.
On Tuesday (March 16), Warren tallied four goals and added three assists as the Bulldogs blanked Effingham, 7-0, in an Apollo Conference match at Middletown School.
Warren’s seven total points enabled him to eclipse the 50-point mark for his career.
Nate Lundstrom contributed one goal and three assists for M-S. Also scoring were Clayton Gibson and Nick Tjahjadi.
The other assist was by Titus Payne.
“The defense has continued to play consistently great soccer,” M-S coach Jeremy Davis said. “Returners Logan Woodward and Aidan Hegarty have been bulwarks for the Bulldog defensive unit.
“The unit is yet to concede a goal this year.”
Goalkeeper Keagon Ashby had three saves in posting his third shutout.
M-S (2-0-1) returns to action on Thursday (March 18) at Mattoon.
