Mahomet-Seymour golf picks up win at Ironhorse Golf Course

Reis Claybrooke secured a top-10 finish on Friday (Aug. 26) and helped Mahomet-Seymour’s boys’ golf team to a fourth-place finish in the 14-school Champaign Central Invitational at the University of Illinois Orange Course, in Savoy.
Claybrooke posted a 75 and ended in ninth place.
As a team, the Bulldogs carded a 319 composite and finished one shot out of a second place tie.
Benton (286) was the team champion. Mattoon and Edwardsville (318) shared second place.
Other M-S participants were Parker Clements (81), Jacob Schoudel (81), Leif Olson (82), Kelton Hennesy (83) and Blake Harvey (87).
On Thursday (Aug. 25), the Bulldogs won a four-school meet at Ironhorse Golf Course, in Tuscola.
M-S compiled a composite score of 156. Following the Bulldogs were Paris (173), Tuscola (188) and Centennial (214).
Four Bulldogs were among six players who shared medalist honors with a 39.
The M-S leaders were Claybrooke, Clements, Olson and Schoudel.
The other Bulldog competitors were Riley Dowers (41) and Harvey (44).
M-S (6-0) returns to action on Monday (Aug. 29) against Centennial at the UI.
