Mahomet-Seymour Girls’ Track Shows Strong at Bloomington Invitational with Multiple Top 10 Finishes

Mahomet-Seymour’s girls’ track and field team tied for 13th on Friday (April 12) in the 20-school Bloomington Invitational.

The Bulldogs had five individual performances among the top 10 individually, including two by Lauren Burr.

Burr placed fourth in the 400 meters (1:01.55) and fifth in the 200 meters (personal-best 26.04 seconds).

Other M-S standouts were Kara Carney (third in the 300-meter hurdles in 48.30 seconds), Emily Anand (sixth in the 3,200 meters with a personal-best 12:07.79) and Kelsie Fuoss (ninth in the pole vault at 9 feet, 3 inches).

Two Bulldog relays also fared well.

The 3,200-meter unit of Emma Frazier, Taylor Mills, Chloe Bundren and Anniston Huff took third in 10:32.17.

Sharing the baton for the ninth-place 1,600-meter relay were Huff, Evelyn Hillard, Cora Ummel and Ayla Finfrock. Their cumulative time was 4:26.44.

Meet champion Normal University High totaled 78 points and was followed by Danville (70 points). M-S ended with 24 points.

The Bulldogs return to action on Saturday (April 20) in the Champaign Central Invitational.
