Mahomet-Seymour girls track places second at Mount Zion

The Bulldogs won four of 17 events on Wednesday (May 5) at a four-school meet at Mount Zion and placed second.
The host Braves totaled 121 ½ points. M-S ended with 97 ½ points. Third-place Arthur-Lovington/Atwood-Hammond finished with 35 points.
M-S had a double individual winner in senior Shaelin Ruzich. She won the 300-meter hurdles in 49.25 seconds and the pole vault at 10 feet, 4 inches. She was also the runner-up in the 100 hurdles (17.38 seconds).
Senior Hailee McCall-Ochs was the shot put winner (32 feet, 2 inches), an event where teammate Gwen Tee was the runner-up (30-1).
Junior Emily Bednar was the victor in the 3,200 meters (13:00.00).
The Bulldogs also swept the top two spots in the pole vault. Junior Cece Abramson was second to Ruzich in (9-5).
Other Bulldogs who placed second individually were Elizabeth Sims (1,600 meters, 5:44.73); Kaile Jeffers (800 meters, 3:06.76) and Ariana Lingard (100 meters, 13.92).
Two M-S relays ran second.
The 400-meter foursome of Holly Hawes, Chloe Merkle, Hannah Hofbauer and Meah Beacham was timed in 57.98 seconds.
The 3,200-meter unit of Chloe Allen, Ava Boyd, Callie Jansen and Zoe Joyce shared the baton in 10:48.78.
Placing third for M-S were 200-meter runner Lingard, 300-hurdler Lauren Burr, Tee in the discus, long jumper Karlie Fouss and triple-jumper Savannah Amatyleon.
The Bulldogs’ 1,600-meter relay was also third. The participants were Mallory Carr, Allen, Jeffers and Joyce.
M-S returns to action on Wednesday (May 12) at the Bloomington Invitational.
