Mahomet-Seymour Girls’ Tennis Stays Undefeated with Dominant Sweeps Over Charleston and Bloomington Cornerstone

Mahomet-Seymour’s undefeated girls’ tennis team swept every match in two sets on Monday (Sept. 30) while posting a 9-0 win at Charleston.
Adella Bird (6-0, 6-1) and Holland Martin (6-2, 6-0) were victorious at No. 1 and No. 2 singles, respectively, and combined for a 6-0, 6-1 triumph at No.1 doubles.
Likewise, Elana Religioso (6-1, 6-1) and Haley Reed (6-0, 6-2) prevailed at No. 3 and No. 4 singles, respectively, before teaming up for a 6-1, 6-0 victory at No. 2 doubles.
The Bulldogs’ other singles winners were Eliza Agate (6-1, 6-1) at No. 5 and Ashley Shoaf (6-0, 6-0) at No. 6.
Shoaf joined forces with Lindsay Gowler for a 6-0, 6-0 win at No. 3 doubles.
On Tuesday (Oct. 1), M-S toppled Bloomington Cornerstone, 7-2, at the Middletown Courts.
The Bulldogs captured wins in all six singles matches in straight sets: Bird (6-2, 6-0 at No. 1); Charlotte Mercer (6-0, 6-2 at No.2); Religioso (6-0, 6-0 at No. 3); Courtney Gowler (6-2, 6-0 at No. 4); Evie Hillard (6-0, 6-0 at No. 5) and Harper Young (6-3, 6-0 at No. 6).
The other M-S victory came at No. 1 doubles with the duo of Shoaf and Lindsay Gowler registering a 6-2, 6-2 victory to record their ninth consecutive win.
M-S (14-0) returns to action on Thursday (Oct. 3) at home against Urbana.
