Mahomet-Seymour Girls’ Tennis Dominates Schlarman and Gibson City-Melvin-Sibley, Extends Undefeated Streak to 5-0

Mahomet-Seymour swept the six singles matches on Thursday (Sept. 5) and handed Schlarman Academy an 8-1 loss in a girls’ tennis match at the Middletown Courts.
Senior Charlotte Mercer captured an 8-1 win at No.1 singles. The Bulldogs have six seniors this year and each one has won at least once in either singles or doubles.
Other M-S winners in singles were Emme Laughton (8-2 at No. 2), Evie Hillard (8-1 at No. 3), (8-0 at No.4), Lillian Meyer (8-0 at No. 5) and Harper Young (8-1 at No. 6).
The Bulldogs sent six different players into action in doubles.
Posting wins were Courtney Gowler and Evie Hillard (8-1 at No. 1) and Sydney Wilson and Loriana Selimi (8-7 (8) at No. 3).
On Friday (Sept. 6), M-S overpowered Gibson City-Melvin-Sibley, 8-1, at the Middletown Courts.
The Bulldogs won every singles match.
At No. 1, Mercer defeated Natalie Aberle, 8-2.
At No. 2, Caroline Aden topped Grace Steidinger, 8-4.
At No. 3, Gowler handled Kacley Robertson, 8-2.
At No. 4, Hillard blanked Charity Miguel, 8-0.
At No. 5, Young took care of McKenna Odgers, 8-1.
At No. 6, Lauryn Uebelhoer beat Hope Bodega, 8-2.
In doubles, the Bulldogs’ No. 1 duo of Lillian Meyer and Violet Franklin recorded an 8-0 victory over Natalie Aberle and Grace Steidinger.
At No. 3 doubles, Bulldogs Ashlynn Gutzmer and Briley Miller teamed up for an 8-2 triumph over Charity Miguel and Hope Bodega.
Thus far this season, 16 Bulldogs have at least one win in singles and eight doubles’ teams have won at least once.
M-S (5-0) returns to action on Tuesday (Sept. 10) in Paris.
