Mahomet-Seymour Girls’ Tennis Dominates Home-Opener with 9-0 Shutout Over Centennial

Mahomet-Seymour’s girls’ tennis team didn’t lose a set in their home-opener on Monday (Sept. 2) and shut out Centennial, 9-0, at the Middletown Courts.

At No. 1 singles, Adella Bird topped Taylor Diep, 6-1, 6-0.

At No. 2 singles, Holland Martin defeated Rachel Hartmann, 6-2 , 6-1.
At No. 3 singles, Elana Religioso overpowered Ria Modi, 6-0, 6-1.
At No. 4 singles, Emmie Flores handed Anna Williams a 6-1, 6-2 setback.
At No. 5 singles, Eliza Agate beat Allison Hemming, 4-1.
At No. 6 singles, Ashley Shoaf made quick work of Krisha Patel, 6-0, 6-1.

In doubles, the three M-S entries lost just a total of five games.

At No. 1 doubles, Bird and Martin posted a 6-2, 6-0 victory over Williams and Diep.

At No. 2 doubles, Haley Reed and Religioso teamed up for a 6-0, 6-1 triumph over Modi and Patel.

At No. 3 doubles, Lindsey Gowler and Agate were victorious over Alivia Hooper and Rylin Zumwalt, 6-1, 6-1.

On Wednesday (Sept. 4), the unbeaten Bulldogs upended Danville, 6-3, in Danville.

Religioso (No. 3), Reed (No.4), Agate (No.5) and Shoaf (No. 6) all won in straight sets to remain undefeated in singles.

Shoaf won her match, 6-0, 6-0.

In doubles, Reed and Religioso teamed up for a win at No.2, 8-4, while Shoaf and Gowler delivered an 8-1 win at No. 3.

M-S (3-0) returns to action on Thursday (Sept. 5) at the Middletown Courts against Danville Schlarman Academy.
