For the fifth consecutive meet – the total number the team has had thus far this season – Mahomet-Seymour’s girls’ swimming team set either a pool record or a school record on Tuesday (Sept. 17) in a five-school event at Urbana.

The latest school records were in relays and shattered marks established earlier this month.

The 200-yard freestyle relay foursome of Talynn O’Donnell, Karsyn Johnson, Lainey Howard and Raegan O’Donnell chopped more than a half-second off the previous standard.

They were timed in 1 minute, 42.50 seconds. The previous record was 1:43.05.

The 200-yard medley relay unit of Johnson, Callie Lu, Logsdon and Raegan O’Donnell stopped the clock in 1:58.70 and finished second.

The former record was 2:00.31.

M-S won seven individual events with both Johnson and Raegan O’Donnell triumphing twice apiece.

Johnson’s wins were in the 200-yard individual medley (2:21.25) and the 100-yard backstroke (1:03.71).

Raegan O’Donnell earned firsts in the 50-yard freestyle (24.56 seconds) and the 100-yard freestyle (54.92 seconds).

Diver Bella Almaroad was victorious (184.90 points for six dives) as were Caroline Mills (5:36.26 in the 500-yard freestyle) and Lu (1:12.46 in the 100-yard breaststroke).

The Bulldogs’ 400-yard freestyle grouping of Talynn O’Donnell, Claire Waggoner, Mills and Howard finished in the top spot (3:52.87).

M-S amassed 618 points and won the meet. Runner-up Champaign Central totaled 573 points and was followed by Urbana (314), St. Thomas More (258) and Charleston (32)

Talynn O’Donnell turned in two second-place finishes for the Bulldogs: (200-yard freestyle in 2:00.17 and 100-yard butterfly in 1:01.20).

Also earning a runner-up finish was Howard (50-yard freestyle in 26.59 seconds).

Taking third for M-S individually were Mills (200-yard freestyle in 2:02.83), Lu (200-yard individual medley in 2:30.70), Logsdon (100-yard butterfly in 1:10.23) and Waggoner (100-yard freestyle in 1:02.06).

Two other Bulldog relays captured third-place finishes.

A 200-yard freestyle relay unit consisting of Waggoner, Lu, Logsdon and Mills was timed in 1:55.12.

A 400-yard freestyle relay squad featuring Holt, Romy Hernandez, Mia Saba and Logsdon were third in 4:34.72.

M-S (14-3) returns to action on Saturday (Sept. 21) in the Centennial Invitational in Champaign.
