Mahomet-Seymour Girls’ Swim Team Dominates Four-School Meet, Sets Three New School Records

Mahomet-Seymour’s girls’ swimming team won a four-school meet on Tuesday (Oct. 1) at Urbana, breaking three individual school records in the process.

Bulldog seniors Maddie Logsdon and Lydia Risser were honored.

For the season, M-S has set school records in seven of 12 events and has broken at least one school record in seven consecutive meets.

The latest marks to fall were diving (Bella Almaroad, 207.00), 200-yard individual medley (Talynn O’Donnell, 2:14.84) and 50-yard freestyle (Raegan O’Donnell, 24.19 seconds).

All three record-setters won their events.

The O’Donnells also won a second individual race.

Raegan was triumphant in the 500-yard freestyle (5:21.20) and Talynn was first to finish in the 100-yard breaststroke (1:13.65).

MS swept all three relay races.

Teaming up for a time of 1:57.06 in the 200-yard medley relay were Talynn O’Donnell, Callie Lu, Raegan O’Donnell and Caroline Mills.

The 200-yard freestyle relay foursome consisted of Mills, Lainey Howard, Karsyn Johnson and Raegan O’Donnell. Their cumulative time was 1:44.52.

The winning 400-yard freestyle relay featured Johnson, Howard, Claire Waggoner and Talynn O’Donnell. They were timed in 4:01.79.

The Bulldogs registered runner-up finishes in three events. Diver Gracie Shuff was second (116.50), Johnson was second in the 200-yard freestyle (2:07.29) and Lu was second in the 100-yard butterfly (1:07.94).

Mills posted two third-place finishes: 200-yard individual medley (2:24.76) and 100-yard backstroke (1:10.01).

Howard also captured third place in two races: 200-yard freestyle (2:09.03) and 500-yard freestyle (5:46.40).

Logsdon was third in the 100-yard butterfly (1:11.71) and Johnson was third in the 100 breaststroke (1:18.74).

The Bulldogs had a second entry in the 200-yard freestyle relay. The foursome of Lu, Kayleigh Holt, Romy Hernandez and Johnson were third in 1:57.29.

M-S totaled 178 points and was followed by Normal Community (108), Olympia (64) and Urbana (57).

The Bulldogs will return to action on Saturday (Oct. 12) at the Urbana Invitational.
