Mahomet-Seymour’s girls’ soccer team was held scoreless for the third time this season on Monday (April 15) and dropped a 3-0 non-conference decision at home to Rochester.

Goalkeeper Margaret Moore recorded a season-high nine saves.

On Tuesday (April 16), the Bulldogs registered their fourth shutout of the season, blanking Charleston 2-0  at Middletown Field.

M-S scored once in each half of a match that was shortened due to lightning.

Jaycee Fancher and Paislee Welge scored the Bulldogs’ goals. Izzy Lietz and Ella Walk collected the assists.

Anna Streicher made four saves in her varsity debut as the starting goalkeeper.

“Early in the game, Anna made her first varsity save for the Bulldogs, and it was a big one,” M-S coach Jeremy David said. “After a high turnover on the edge of the box, Streicher was able to paw the ball into the air and grab ahold of it.”

M-S managed more than twice as many shots as the Trojans, but only connected for two scores.

“With a scheme produced by none other than Dr. Nefario himself, Charleston ran a high defensive line with a high keeper behind them,” Davis said. “The offensive group struggled to adjust even though they could outpace the defensive line regularly.

“The Bulldogs looked like they had some tired legs after playing the night before, but were able to get ample opportunities to take a bigger lead. They simply never capitalized.”

M-S (5-3-2) returns to action on Thursday (April 18) at Mount Zion.

The JV match against Charleston was postponed  by the weather conditions.
