Mahomet-Seymour Girls’ Soccer Narrowly Falls 2-1 to Defending Champions in Season Opener

Against the defending Class 1A state champions, the  Mahomet-Seymour girls’ soccer team opened the season on Saturday (March 16) with a 2-1 loss at home to Normal University High.

The match was scoreless at halftime.

After the Pioneers scored, the Bulldogs’ scored the equalizer when Jaycee Fancher scored on an assist from Paislee Welge.

In her first varsity start, senior M-S goalkeeper Margaret Moore had four saves.

M-S (0-1) returns to action on Friday (March 22) at Metamora.

The M-S junior varsity battled to a scoreless draw against U-High.
