Mahomet-Seymour’s girls’ soccer team dropped a 4-0 decision on Tuesday (May 21) in an IHSA sectional semifinal game at Pleasant Plains against defending Class 2A state champion Chatham Glenwood.

Chatham led, 1-0, at intermission.

”M-S was unable to dethrone the defending state champs in a windy clash,” M-S coach Jeremy Davis said. “The Bulldogs were forced to play pretty defensively with Glenwood having the advantage throughout the night.

“The girls played well, but with about 10 left in the first half, Glenwood was able to find a bit of space at the top of the box and put the ball just out of reach of the Bulldog keeper.”

For the season, the Bulldogs tallied 63 goals.

The team leaders were Jaycee Fancher (11), Erika Johnson (11), Ella Walk (nine), Camryn Nelson (seven), Gwen Cambron (six) and Izzy Lietz (four).

Lietz produced a team-high nine assists, followed by Fancher (eight), Hannah Creel (six), Hadley Grotelueschen (four), Walk (four) and Paislee Welge (four).

The Bulldog seniors were Nadia Biegler, Sophia Davis, Audrey Marshall and Maggie Moore.
