Mahomet-Seymour Girls’ Soccer Dominates Meridian/Sangamon Valley 9-0 in Sectional Semifinal

Mahomet-Seymour’s sixth shutout of the girls’ soccer season on Tuesday (May 14) came against Meridian/Sangamon Valley in a semifinal match of the M-S Class 2A Sectional.
Eleven different players had either a goal or an assist – or both – in the postseason opener, a 9-0 Bulldog triumph.
Camryn Nelson had two goals and Hannah Creel recorded two assists.
Finishing with one goal and one assist were Isabel Lietz, Hadley Grotelueschen, Nadia Biegler and Kylyn Ross.
Notching one goal apiece were Erika Johnson, Haley Reed and Holland Martin. Johnson netted the first goal of the match three minutes into the contest.
Also registering an assist were Ava Watkins and Lindsay Gowler.
Bulldog goalkeeper Maggie Moore was untested as the visitors had no shots on goal.
Top-seeded M-S (10-5-3) will play in the regional championship match on Saturday at Middletown Field. Meridian/Sangamon Valley finishes with a record of 10-11-2.
