Mahomet-Seymour Girls’ Soccer Claims Apollo Conference Title with Dominant 9-0 Win at Charleston

Seniors Sophie Davis, Audrey Marshall and Maggie Moore all scored a goal for the Mahomet-Seymour girls’ soccer team on Friday (May 3) as the Bulldogs cinched the Apollo Conference championship with a 9-0 victory at Charleston.
Camryn Nelson hit two goals and added an assist.
Teammates finding the back of the net were Hannah Creel, Erika Johnson, Ella Walk and Jaycee Fancher.
Sophie Davis’ goal was the first of her career.
Adding two assists apiece were Fancher and Hadley Grotelueschen. Ending with one assist were Walk, Nadia Biegler and Ava Jansen.
Anna Streicher totaled three saves and Moore had one save.
M-S led, 4-0, at halftime.
“Following the game, the girls took inspiration from Coach (Brad) Underwood and the fighting Illini and had their own championship water gun celebration,” Bulldog coach Jeremy Davis said.
He reported the results of water fights won as: Coach Davis one, Coach Lietz one and Biegler ½.
The Bulldogs are 9-3-3 overall and 5-0-1 in Apollo Conference matches. M-S will return to action on Tuesday (May 7) at Normal Community.
