Mahomet-Seymour Girls’ Cross-Country Team Closes Season with Career-Best Performances, Ties for 20th at IHSA Class 2A State Meet”

With four runners achieving their best career times, the Mahomet-Seymour girls’ cross-country time ended in a tie for 20th on Saturday (Nov. 9) at the IHSA Class 2A state meet.
Junior Emily Anand (45th in 18:12.46), freshman Cecily Smith (79th in 18:51.97), freshman Kennedy Ashby (176th in 19:59.86) and senior Chloe Bundren (185th in 20:07.79) registered their top times ever.
The state meet was held at Detweiller Park, in Peoria.
Sophomore Taylor Mills ended 104th at state (19:07.02), freshman Finley Smith was 212th (20:40.89) and senior Morgan Waisath was 240th (22:09.71).
Bundren and Mills were the lone Bulldogs with previous experience at state.
In the team chase, Chicago St. Ignatius captured team honors (76 points), followed by Chicago DePaul Prep (177 points) and Chatham Glenwood (217 points). M-S’ point total was 460 in the 29-school event.
The Bulldogs are coached by Jama Grotelueschen.
