Mahomet-Seymour Girls’ Cross-Country Captures Team Title at Charleston Invitational, Three Runners Finish in Top 10

Three Mahomet-Seymour runners placed among the top 10 on Saturday (Sept. 7) in the 167-runner Charleston Invitational girls’ cross-country meet.
The Bulldogs won team honors in the 15-school event.
The team leaders were Taylor Mills (third in 18:54.79), Emily Anand (fifth in 19:19.99) and Cecily Smith (ninth in a personal-best 19:36.04).
Other Bulldog entrants were Chloe Bundren (22nd in 20:35.52), Kennedy Ashby (23rd in 20:36.82), Morgan Waisath (31st in 21:00.61) and Finley Smith (44th in 21:54.89).
The Bulldogs had a team score of 58 points. Runner-up Centennial had 103 points and was followed by Mount Zion (119) and Shelbyville (123).
A week earlier, at Clinton, M-S finished behind Shelbyville in the team chase.
M-S returns to action on Saturday (Sept. 14) at the Lee Halberg Invitational at Springfield’s Lincoln Park.
