Mahomet-Seymour Girls’ Cross Country Achieves Personal Bests, Finishes 13th at Peoria Invitational

With the top four runners all achieving personal-bests for a 3-mile course, Mahomet-Seymour’s girls’ cross-country squad placed 13th on Saturday (Oct. 5) in the 33-school Peoria Invitational at Detweiller Park, in Peoria.
Emily Anand was the Bulldogs’ top placer, finishing in 18 minutes, 32.90 seconds. She cut nearly 22 seconds off her previous best and placed 26th in a 247-runner field.
Cecily Smith ran 33rd in 19:08, Kennedy Ashby was 75th in 20:11.50 and Finley Smith was 106th in 20:48.40.
Cecily Smith dropped her time by almost 30 seconds. Ashby was six seconds better than in any of her previous races and Finley Smith trimmed 10 seconds off her time.
Other M-S entries in the varsity-only race for Class 1A or Class 2A runners were Choe Bundren (133rd in 21:22.20) and Emma Frazier (160th in 22:08.10).
The Bulldogs will return to action on Saturday (Oct. 12) at Metamora at Black Partridge Park.
