Mahomet-Seymour girls’ basketball defeats Charleston

Savannah Orgeron and Alayna DeWitt each recorded 14 points on Thursday (Dec. 8) as the Mahomet-Seymour girls’ basketball team put up a season’s high for points in a 68-15 win at Charleston.
The Bulldogs led, 18-0, after one quarter and 33-6 at halftime.
Chloe Pruitt notched seven points, Ava Yeakel scored six points and Emma Dallas added five points.
Pruitt hauled down a team-high six rebounds. Other team leaders were Orgeron (five rebounds), Abby Bunting (four rebounds) and Ellie Dallas (four rebounds).
Emma Dallas collected five steals and Yeakel finished with four steals.
On Friday (Dec. 9), M-S overcame a first-quarter deficit at home to turn back Effingham, 46-26.
After the first quarter, M-S trailed, 12-10.
Orgeron poured in a game-high 19 points. Bunting scored nine points and Durbin Thomas netted five points.
Bunting grabbed a team-high seven rebounds. Pruitt had five boards.
Kylie Waldinger grabbed four steals and Thomas ended with three steals.
M-S (7-3) returns to action at home on Monday (Dec. 12) against Tolono Unity.
The Bulldogs’ junior varsity squad picked up a 54-5 victory at Charleston. The JV team took its first loss to Effingham, 46-37.
