Mahomet-Seymour Eighth-Grade Volleyball Team Ends Season One Victory Short of State Trophy

Mahomet-Seymour’s eighth-grade volleyball team finished the season one win away from earning a state trophy.

In an IESA Class 4A state tournament quarterfinal match on Saturday (March 16) in Morton, the Bulldogs dropped a 22-25, 25-19, 25-15 decision to eventual state champion Morton.

After being extended to three sets by M-S, Morton won in the semifinals (over Mascoutah) and in the finals (over Chatham Glenwood) with two-set sweeps.

Charlotte Sinclair had a match-high 13 service points against Morton. Teammates Emma DiFilippo and Ally Young each ended with six service points. Makenna Peterka landed two service points.

Four of Sinclair’s points came on aces. DiFilippo and Young each had one service ace.

M-S finishes the season with a 21-7 overall record. Morton wound up with a 30-1 mark.
