Mahomet-Seymour Dominates Weekend: Softball Team Sweeps Doubleheader with Impressive Offense

Mahomet-Seymour’s softball team continued its offensive exploits on Saturday (March 23), sweeping a non-conference doubleheader at home over Galesburg, 13-3 and 24-5.

The Bulldogs have scored 60 runs in their last three games.

Ava Henderson went 5-for-5 in the doubleheader for the Bulldogs and teammate Madelyn Logsdon was 5-for-7. Katherine Severns was 4-for-4 in the second game.

Kalista Granadino was 3-for-3 in the nightcap, and hammered a double and a home run while knocking in five runs. Rio Casillas powered two hits in the second game and drove in five runs for the day.

Madeleine Cortez and Brooklyn Dyer each scored five runs during the two games. Brooke Hartman and Peyton Shelmadine both tallied four runs. Madison Taylor recorded three RBI in the first game.

Henderson pitched all five innings in the opener, scattering three hits and striking out five hitters.

Severns pitched all four innings in the nightcap, registering three strikeouts.

M-S (2-3) returns to action on Tuesday (March 26) at Stanford Olympia.
